DONALD BREEDLOVE
Kitchen Supervisor
A native of Houston, Donald grew up in Denton, Texas as the youngest of 10 children. His family life was loving and lively and their home was known as the weekend getaway for many friends. Drinking was normalized at a young age, but at 17, when Donald lost his father, his drinking ramped up significantly. Alcoholism gradually took hold of his life, greatly impacting his relationships, employment, and legal standing. Donald found a support group in Irving that he loved attending but fell short of working the steps outlined in the program that the group stood for. The stress of raising children and working an ever more demanding job spurred Donald back to drinking alcoholically. He knew he needed some real help, which was when he turned to Dallas 24 Hour Club. Here, he has found a program of Recovery that works, a supportive community, and a position as Kitchen Supervisor of The Hubcap Café! Donald loves interacting with so many different people while supporting fellow Residents and encouraging newcomers to stay the course. He’ll even buy a cup of coffee or a Hubcap pancake for people and talk with them to lift their spirits. His hopes are to continue reintegrating into the community as a more productive citizen, having found a greater purpose. He is now on track to raise his kids well and be there for his family. Donald is thriving as Kitchen Supervisor and in his new life of Recovery!
