The Meeting That Brought Me Home

One of the most powerful things The 24 offers is a deep sense of community or as we like to say, CommUNITY. From shared holiday meals and monthly Steak Nights to the 38 12-Step meetings held onsite each week, The Hubcap Café, the Stuart Bright Life Skills Program, and more, our Residents are surrounded by connection and care.

They meet new sober friends. They get to know mentors who truly understand what they’re going through. They’re invited into a wider recovery network that not only accepts them as they are but also encourages their growth. Many have landed jobs, found sponsors, joined homegroups, and experienced joy in ways they never thought possible, all because someone in this community reached out a hand.
And it’s not just the Residents who benefit. As someone who once showed up simply to be of service, I’ve experienced this transformation, too.

I got to a point in my recovery journey where it was time for me to give back. Since twelve-step meetings at The 24 are open to the public, I started attending the Saturday night 10pm meetings to share Solution with the Residents, and it quickly became my “spiritual food” each week. I was inspired by so many who possessed little more than a willingness to try a new way of life, and by witnessing their growth week to week, my own spiritual path was nourished and strengthened.
Through regular attendance, I learned more about The 24 as a whole and jumped at the opportunity to become part of the team. Today, I serve as Development Coordinator, and those Saturday night meetings are still part of my journey. I couldn’t feel more blessed to now play a role in helping others find what I found — hope, healing, and a true sense of community.
How You Can Help Others Come Home Too
This is what we mean by #WEcovery. The idea that when we walk this road together, everyone grows. And in 2025, it means even more, because UNITY is our word of the year. It’s a reminder that no one does recovery alone and at The 24, no one has to.
We’re honored to once again participate in North Texas Giving Day, the largest community-wide giving event in the country. This year, our goal is to raise $70,000 to continue offering transitional living, support services, and essential life skills to those seeking a new way of life.
Early giving opens Thursday, August 28, so mark your calendars!
Whether you’ve been part of The 24 for years or are just learning about us now, your support helps make stories like mine — and so many others — possible.
The need is great. The time is now.
Help someone else find their way home.
