JOSH ERVIN
Auxiliary Programs Coordinator
Josh was born in southeast Missouri and grew up in southwest Florida. He began using substances at age 14, and over time, his addiction progressed to harder drugs. To escape his problems, Josh started “traveling” — from southwest Florida to Washington state, then back to Florida, and later to the northeast — but no matter how far he ran, his addiction was always there waiting. Multiple stints in jail and other institutions failed to bring lasting sobriety.
After moving to Texas from Missouri, Josh found himself alone in a one-bedroom apartment, surrounded by empty bottles. A trip to the ER led to detox, then The Magdalen House, and finally, Dallas 24 Hour Club.
Josh began at The 24 as a Phase I Resident, later transitioned to Phase II, and soon became the Phase I Liaison. That role gave him the skills and confidence to step into his current position as Auxiliary Programs Coordinator. The 24 and his program of recovery are the only things that have kept Josh sober for any meaningful length of time since he was 14. He credits this place with saving his life.
