Christian’s Story of Survival and Recovery

Recovery does not always happen on the first try. For many people, the road includes setbacks, delays, and moments where hope feels out of reach.

Christian first came to Dallas 24 Hour Club asking for help. He met with our Program Manager, Darren, ready to take the next step toward recovery. At the time, Christian was on Suboxone, which meant he needed to complete detox before he could enter our residential program. We could not admit him yet, but we encouraged him to get the care he needed and return when he was ready.
After leaving, life unraveled quickly. Christian’s truck broke down, and he was stranded in Oak Cliff. In that vulnerable moment, he relapsed and began using fentanyl. He overdosed and was revived. Even then, addiction kept its grip, and for a time, Christian did not believe he would make it.
Christian was eventually taken to Lew Sterrett and completed detox. When he came out, he had one goal. As Christian puts it, “All I could think about was getting back to Darren and The 24.”
He returned to Dallas 24 Hour Club, entered the program, and committed fully to recovery and rebuilding his life one day at a time.
Today, Christian is the Tillman House Men’s Liaison. He supports residents who are facing the same challenges he once faced, offering guidance, accountability, and hope rooted in lived experience.

Christian’s story is why Dallas 24 Hour Club exists. We keep the door open because when someone is finally ready, that moment matters.
Your year-end support helps ensure that when someone comes back ready for recovery, we are here. Ready with structure, community, and a real chance at lasting recovery.
