As Trevor’s Place Coordinator at Dallas 24 Hour Club, Frank Ramirez brings honesty, humor, heart, and lived experience into everything he does. His journey through recovery has shaped the way he connects with Residents, and today he helps create a supportive environment where people can rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
We sat down with Frank to learn more about his journey, what motivates him, and why recovery has become such an important part of his life.

Where's your favorite place in the world?
My mom’s house on Christmas Eve. That’s the one time every year my family is all together. We play games, spend time as a family, and it’s just always been special to me ever since I was a kid.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d like to go to Europe and see where a lot of our culture came from. I think we can get stuck in our own bubble sometimes, so seeing how other people live and understanding where things originated would be interesting. I’ve also always wanted to go to China or somewhere in Asia where everything is completely different from what we’re used to here.
What was your first job, and what did it teach you?
I waited tables early in life. It taught me how to build rapport with people from all walks of life, communicate under pressure, and develop interpersonal skills. One thing I learned is that when I was in a bad mood, getting out of myself and helping other people changed that.
Have you ever met anyone famous?
I got to meet Jason Bonham, John Bonham’s son (John Bonham was the drummer for Led Zeppelin), while I worked at Guitar Center. I also met a few famous drummers at PASIC. As a drummer myself, that was really cool.

What are you passionate about?
My family, my two sons. I love working out, playing drums, and honestly, I really love where I work. Seeing people come in and start recovery, watching them grow and develop — it means a lot to me. I get to give back what was so freely given to me.
If you could instantly improve one skill, what would it be?
Probably emotional IQ. Recovery has really helped me grow emotionally. I used to react emotionally instead of thinking things through and responding in a healthy way. I’m still learning and growing up in that area.
When did you first come to Dallas 24 Hour Club?
I first came in 2012. I got sober for a little while, but I went back out for years. I always told myself that one day, when I was truly ready to get sober for good, I wanted to do it at Dallas 24 Hour Club.

What made you decide to work at Dallas 24 Hour Club?
At first, I laughed when someone suggested that I work here. But when I came back to recovery (after a brief relapse), something changed. I saw people giving back and being part of the fabric here, and I wanted that too. I wanted to help people renew their lives.
I remember coming to a cookout at the Tillman House before Trevor’s Place was even open. They were showing us the vision for the space, and I remember thinking, “I just want to be involved somehow.” I didn’t care what role I had — I just wanted to contribute and be part of what was happening here.
What does recovery mean to you today?
I finally embraced the solution that recovery offered me. I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself instead of just passing through. Being able to work here and help others has honestly been one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.
